UPF 50+
UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) is used to indicate the UV protection provided by fabric. Much like the SPF rating on suncreen, it measures the length and time of protection against UV. UPF ratings range from 15 to 50. Fabrics that rate higher than 50 are labeled 50+. UPF testing involves exposing a fabric to UV radiation and measuring how much is transmitted through the sample. There are no chemical treatments applied to the fabric.
